About Babette Brown |
Originally from Salzburg, Austria, Babette also started to dance at the age of four. She continued with Ballet, Jazz, Modern Stage and Flamenco. When she was 16 she attended a Ballroom Dance Class and was asked to join a Latin Formation team. This was when Babette got in touch with the world of Ballroom and Latin Dancing. The team became very successful with winning the Austrian Championships and reaching the European Championship finals 3 times. By that time, Babette also started to compete as an Amateur in National and International Championship Competitions. She has been an Austrian National Latin Championship Finalist, and Finalist at many International Championships like the Russian Open Dancesport Championships in Nizhniy Novgorod in 1997.But her ambitions soon became much higher. Babette attended the University of Salzburg for her first diploma in Law School and then switched to the University of Innsbruck because of her dancing career. Towards the end of her law studies, Babette had to make the decision which way to turn whether to become a lawyer or a professional dancer. She decided for the dancing and turned Professional in the beginning of 2000. Unfortunately, due to conflicts of careers, Babette was able to write her Diploma work in law but never has been able to finish her last exam that was left at University to officially obtain her law degree. Because there was no suitable professional partner for her in Austria at the time, she started to venture worldwide and found her match in the USA. Within the first few month of her Professional career, Babette made it as far as the top 48 Couples at the International Championships in London in the famous Royal Albert Hall and becoming Ohio Star Ball Rising Star Latin Finalist. After the short but successful partnership split up she came back to Europe to take her Professional exams and to find a competitive partner again. Besides all this, Babette has been a fashion model with MM Management for 8 years. She stopped when she turned Professional in dancing but kept her passion for fashion and is expressing it through designing some of her own costumes together with Chris Stevenson from J’ordy Dancesport Apparel.
